THE F1 2026 CALENDAR
Since this is a Formula 1-related blog, I believe it is adequate to share all news about the sport. So, let’s break down the F1 2026 calendar.
The 2026 season will have a total of six double headers and two back-to-back triple headers for the six final races of the season. Once again, the Australian GP will be the opener of the season on the 8th of March, and will see its end in Abu Dhabi on the 6th of December.
And there are a few more changes.
Firstly, the Imola GP has been removed—rumors say they will try to get back eventually — in favor of the addition of a new urban circuit in Spain. Now, Spain has two Grand Prix, and that certainly will give something to talk about. Should the organization prioritize the historic racetracks and their conservation, or should it promote the new urban tracks?
Personally, most urban circuits haven’t left a superb impression on the viewers, but the FIA seems insistent. I agree that these new urban circuits attract new audiences and align better with Liberty Media’s strategy. However, heritage is essential to the sport, let alone the excitement they bring to the weekends and the spectacle. We cannot rely entirely on the monetization of the sport and dismiss the essence of it; the point is not only to attract new viewers but to keep the already interested fans on the hook.
Last but not least, the back-to-back triple headers.
That is definitely a choice.
If I am not mistaken, we had the same situation back in 2024, but I am interested in how this next season will play out. Do I believe it is a great idea? I honestly feel a bit skeptical, given the races and their physical requirements. And because I might be one of the only people who enjoy the triple header of Miami, Monaco, and Barcelona.
